Reflektor’s Debut EP Finds Home In Germany
Genre: Liquid DnB
A brand new Drum & Bass alias reppin’ the Canadian West Cost, Reflektor, has hit the ground running with their debut EP found its home under the banner of C Recordings over in Germany. This Vancouver based trio has their sights set within the realm of Liquid with a more deep-end flare and have targeted a wide, global audience from the get go. Impressively blending some serious emotion into each well put together tune, they’ve definitely captured a signature sound within the growing North American market for Drum & Bass.
Reflektor’s EP features two stellar tunes: Firstly, ‘Entropica’, a track that truly takes listeners on a journey into an ominous, tropical paradise. The song itself beautifully begins with quite a mello, organic vibe that holds a more down tempo feel, but similar to as when the sun dips into blackness on a remote island, the song dives much deeper… It slips into an eerie breakdown as a flute smoothly carries us into the pounding sound of distant bongos. BAM! The true Drum & Bass sound takes over as a rich, full set of ethnic drums intensely pulse throughout the drop. Wow! This song really evolves impressively throughout its entire duration. *Slow clap*.
For their second track off the EP, ‘Waiting For You’ takes on more of a traditional Liquid style of Dnb. Showcasing their impressive, subtle percussion, combined with one hell of a catchy melody and their long-winding, pitch-shifting bassline, this song fills a full spectrum of elements. As if that isn’t enough, the soothing vocals performed by Vancouver’s Laheen Aquino add such a delightful build as they reach each drop within the track.
